WiS Meeting Minutes – November 9, 2019

The prompt: Write a blurb about transitions, the theme of the next public reading, January 6th. People read their writing prompts and there was a discussion about what they wrote and what transitions means to them.
Readings:
- Cindy and other members of the group read an interactive play she had written called Rems River Log Driving. Cindy wanted to know whether her piece worked and members of the group said it did.
- Jadi wrote a piece called Quack, Quack which was discussed and critiqued by the group.
- Katherine read her piece Daybreak Washout.
- Vlora read her poem Inside; and
- Zehra read two poems, Things Unseen and Simple Caring Acts. The poems were also discussed and critiqued.
Business:
- There was a discussion about what to use for advertising purposes. At the end of the meeting Zehra read the final blurb which was to be used. It was a combination of what Barbara and Katherine had written.
- The Writers Group needs to E-mail DAZ information about our upcoming reading on January 6th. There was discussion about whether we should have the reading on January 6th as it is a public holiday but we decided to keep the reading the 6th.
- Helen from the Dreigroschen Theater enjoyed our reading and would like us to read again.
- Barbara, Zehra, Jadi, Vlora, Jim, and Katherine have signed up to do the next reading.
- The rehearsal dates for the January reading are December 7th, after the meeting and photo shoot and January 4th from noon to three at Andrea‘s house.
- Andrea will send directions to where she lives to members who are going to attend the rehearsal.
- The January meeting has been changed from the 11th to the 18th. Other meeting dates for next year are February 8th, March 7th, April 25th, May 16th, June 20th, and July 18th.
- Seventeen tickets were sold at the last public reading. Cindy is still waiting for invoices from Sarah Dressel and Michael Hecht.
Other:
- Cindy invited members of the group to a bagel brunch around eleven o’clock at her house on January 6th to celebrate her birthday. Members who want to go to her brunch can contact her for directions.
