Letter to the DAZ – Reading in honor of the 25th DAZ Anniversary

Dear Christiane,
Dear Melanie,

Thanks again for letting us use the virtual DAZ Meeting room for today’s Writers in Stuttgart monthly meeting.

We took a vote on the organization of our planned reading for 23 October 2020. We, as a group, voted 9 to 3 that we are willing to do an online Writers in Stuttgart reading via life stream or as a ZOOM meeting in honor of the DAZ Stuttgart on 23 October 2020, but because we are concerned about our health and safety as well as the health and safety of those we love, we do not want to have the reading at Dreigroschen Theater as originally planned. We also believe that having the reading at the Dreigroschen Theater as a live reading would mean a very or even extremely low turn out, i.e., a very small number of individuals in the audience. So for us, this does not make much sense.

Additionally, since 2020 is also the year of the 60th anniversary of St. Louis and Stuttgart as sister cities and with more and more artists going online over the past two months, we feel strongly about also inviting people in St. Louis to the reading for the first time in the history of both the Writers in Stuttgart and the DAZ. 

Last but not least, we would like to encourage people who are interested in joining our online reading in honor of the DAZ on 23 October 2020 to donate to both the DAZ and the Dreigroschen Theater.

We would very much appreciate for you to consider supporting our idea of having an online celebration for the DAZ anniversary. We believe that doing so would also work as an advertisement for the DAZ as well as for Dreigroschen Theater and also for us. 

Out of the Writers in Stuttgart, three of us are willing to cooperate with you for planning details to have the 23 October 2020 event be an online event that will be enjoyed by those attending it.

Please let us, the 23 October 2020 Writers in Stuttgart organizational team, know if you agree with us on having this event be an online event. If you don’t think this is a good idea, we would hereby like to let you know that we are not willing to commit to a live reading for the remainder of the year 2020 because of the precarious and unforeseeable situation of the present pandemic.

We sincerely hope for your understanding and cooperation and would like for all further emails concerning the planning and organization of the 23 October 2020 Writers in Stuttgart public reading to go to the three Writers in Stuttgart members listed below and whose email addresse you find in the “To” section of this email by hitting “reply all” as Hannah and Ayomide are digital natives with more experience in this field than I am. They are also the answer to our prayers (we talked about this at the DAZ Christmas party in 2019) of having “young blood” join our group to rejuvinate us and make us stronger as a group. 🙂
