- What does kindness mean to you? Write about it using a genre that you are least at ease in/ which challenges you the most.
- Jadi – poem. Andrea wants it for the reading wall.
- Jim – definitions – Andrea wants thrm for the reading wall.
- Andrea – dialog for a play.
- Ellen – Essay using real life examples.
- Katharine – personal essay. Use for reading.
Readings/Critiques:
- Jadi- personal essay The Get Well Cards
- Andrea- The Kindness of Strangers. Travel essay
- Katharine – poem. The Sky Above the J Train (Working title)
- Erica- The Kindness of Strangers. Vignettes. 1) My First Valium. 2) The Time I was Rescued from the Parisiennes. 3) You Don’t Drink Tea? Would You Like a Little Gilby’s, Then? Your Life is in Danger. 4) The Kind Doctor, Who Danced Her Back to Bed
- Jim – The Kindness of Strangers – A framework comparing middle class every day people vs the wealthy. To be expanded on for the next rehearsal.
Business:
- Rehearsals for October 19 reading dates: Saturday September 28th DAZ at 10:30
- 2nd rehearsal October 11 at 18:00 at Erica’s
- Reading Music: Michael Hecht, but he should play 4 times: opening, before and after break, to to close. Jadi will contact him regarding for October and January
- Readings.
- Programs: Erica will proof read.
- Where is Sarah D with the programs or Post cards? Andrea will contact her.
- We can use digital cards in the meantime. Jim will produce the programs, and add the post card to the website.
- Theme for Dark Monday January reading?
- Decide at the October 12th regular meeting.
- Microphone research to purchase, from Jim: all-in-one stand-alone mike with speaker. Self-contained! System with 2 microphones cost €799:
- Vote: Unanimous – Jim will get money from Cindy (from WiS account) to buy sound system and bring to first rehearsal at the DAZ on September 28th, 2019.
